Admission Criteria

For admission to the Electrician trade under NCVT ITI programs, candidates must be Indian citizens and at least 14 years old at the time of admission. The minimum educational qualification required is a pass in the 10th standard (Secondary School Examination) from a recognized board, with subjects like Science and Mathematics preferred. There is usually no upper age limit, although some states may specify it around 40 years. Admission is either based on merit in the qualifying exam or through entrance tests conducted by the respective state authorities. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for age relaxation and seat reservation as per government rules. A medical fitness certificate is also required to ensure that the candidate is physically capable of undertaking the practical tasks involved in electrician training.
